The 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam on Thursday elected a 200-member Party Central Committee for the 14th term, including 180 official members and 20 alternate members.

According to an official communiqué from the fourth working day of the congress, delegates spent the day discussing and voting on personnel matters related to the new Central Committee.

Party General Secretary To Lam, who chairs the congress presidium, presided over the session.

Le Minh Hung, a Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and head of the Central Organization Commission, presented a report on personnel work prepared by the 13th-term Central Committee.

Following discussions, the congress voted to approve the size of the new Central Committee and proceeded with the nomination and recommendation process. Delegates reviewed personnel dossiers and discussed candidates in working groups.

The presidium later heard reports from group leaders on the discussion results, nominations, withdrawals and proposed candidate lists. The congress then approved the official ballot list, established a vote-counting committee and conducted the election.

Ballots were cast in the afternoon, after which the results were announced and the list of elected members of the 14th-term Central Committee was formally approved.

The newly elected Central Committee is scheduled to hold its first plenary meeting on Friday. The 14th National Party Congress will close later the same day.
