A day prior, former Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat was assigned by the Politburo to become the deputy head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission.
Before he became the information and communications minister in 2018, Hung, 63, used to work at military telecom firm Viettel. He is among Vietnam’s most prominent leaders in terms of information and communications.
Over six years as a minister, Hung has pushed for digital transformation to make Vietnam a digital nation. He encourages the development of technologies and technological products by the Vietnamese people. He also pays attention to building national digital infrastructures, including the development of a 5G network and a national data platform.
