President Macron emphasized France’s intention to continue strengthening cooperation in traditional sectors, especially healthcare, education, and culture, while expanding collaboration to new areas including infrastructure, urban transport, aerospace, new energy, and historical memory.
Vietnam and France issued a joint statement expressing their desire to deepen their trusted partnership to promote greater independence, autonomy, and development on both sides. France supports Vietnam's involvement in French initiatives related to artificial intelligence (AI) and aids in training high-quality human resources in this field.
Macron’s visit marked the fifth French presidential visit to Vietnam since diplomatic relations were established in 1973 and was his first since taking office in 2017.
Vietnam and France officially established diplomatic ties on April 12, 1973, became Strategic Partners in 2013, and elevated to Comprehensive Strategic Partners in October 2024.
Trade turnover between the two countries reached US$5.42 billion last year, a 12.9% increase compared to 2023. The Vietnamese community in France, numbering about 350,000, is the largest Vietnamese diaspora in Europe and includes approximately 50,000 intellectuals and thousands of businesspeople.
