The Government Inspectorate has transferred to the police three cases involving possible fraud at the Ministry of Health in procuring Covid medical supplies in 2020-21.

The Ministry of Public Security would investigate borrowing and procurement of medical equipment by the Pasteur Institute in Ho Chi Minh City, which shows signs of "violation of regulations on bidding causing serious consequences," the inspectorate said Friday.

The second case relates to the Hanoi-based Tai Loc Technology Service and Trading Co. Ltd, which won many large bids to supply to hospitals under the ministry but did not buy directly from importers and instead involved many intermediaries, causing the prices of supplies to rise by 2-3.1 times.

The third involves the approval of two bidding packages by the ministry for a bronchoscopy system made by Olympus and a digital portable X-ray machine made by Fujifilm, which too showed signs of fraud, according to the inspectorate.
