The National Highway 50B is part of a traffic network planning scheme for the 2021-2030 period (with vision until 2050), director of the Long An Department of Transport, Dang Hoang Tuan, said Saturday.
The highway will run 55 km from Ho Chi Minh City's Pham Hung Street to Tien Giang's Trung Luong Intersection, with 35 km in Long An, 14 km in Tien Giang and 5.8 km in HCMC. Of the total investment cost of around VND18.6 trillion, VND13.8 billion will be used for land clearance.
The highway would connect traffic with HCMC’s ring roads No.3 and 4, increasing connectivity with several airports and seaports including the Hiep Phuoc Port, the Long An Port and the Long Thanh International Airport.
The project is also expected to boost urbanization, attract investment and develop residential, commercial and industrial areas alongside.
The new highway will further strengthen links between HCMC, Long An and Tien Giang, adding to National Highway 1 and National Highway 50.
