A female passenger left behind a suitcase containing cash, gold, and diamonds worth nearly VND300 million (US$11,800) in a public area of Hanoi’s Noi Bai airport on Thursday afternoon.

Security camera footage showed the owner of the suitcase, a woman, forgot it after touching down and left the airport.

Security officer Tran Van Tien was the first to discover the forgotten suitcase.

After having it checked and opened as per procedures at the airport, he contacted the owner using the phone number on invoices of the jewelry left inside.

The passenger was on her way to Phu Tho Province that borders Hanoi when she was reached.

She said she flew into Hanoi from Turkey and because she was busy with supporting her son, who was in a wheelchair, she forgot the suitcase.

She later returned to the airport to retrieve her belongings.
