Lam and his entourage, including his wife Ngo Phuong Ly, and a high-ranking delegation of Vietnam, were greeted at the John F. Kennedy International Airport by Vietnamese Ambassador to the U.S. Nguyen Quoc Dung and his wife, Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the UN, and the staff of the embassy.
The Vietnamese leader will bring forward important messages in strong support of multilateralism, with the U.N. playing the central role in promoting global peace, cooperation, and development.
On the other hand, Lam’s working visit to the U.S. coincides with the first anniversary of the two countries’ comprehensive strategic partnership and their preparations for the celebration of the 30th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties in 2025.
Lam is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with U.S. leaders, attend and deliver remarks at events towards the 30th anniversary, and the first anniversary of the comprehensive strategic partnership, and have other meetings with the participation of U.S. officials, businesspeople, experts, and academics.
The U.S. is Vietnam's second largest commercial partner. Last year, trade turnover between the two countries reached US$111 billion, according to the Vietnam Customs.
