Party chief Nguyen Phu Trong to visit China

Vietnam's Communist Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong will visit China from October 30 to November 2, per an invitation by his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping.

Party chief Trong sent his congratulations to the Chinese leader on October 23 after the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China elected the Politburo, the Politburo Standing Committee and the Party General Secretary for the 20th term, where Xi was re-elected as Party chief.

He expressed high regards for Xi's contribution to the Vietnam-China relations, expresses his wish to bring the countries' relationship to new heights, satisfying the interests of both sides, for peace, stability, cooperation and development of the region and the world.

Vietnam is China's largest commercial partner in ASEAN and the sixth largest globally as a country.

The two countries' bilateral trade reached $165.8 billion in 2021, a 24.6% increase from 2020, according to the General Department of Vietnam Customs.
