A reforestation event has been held in southern Dong Nai Province as part of P&G's Forests For Good initiative to address deforestation and forest preservation in Vietnam.

The initiative was introduced earlier this year as a joint endeavor by P&G Vietnam, Central Retail Vietnam, and Gaia as a part of corporate efforts to address deforestation and forest preservation in Vietnam and to contribute to supporting the government’s international commitments on sustainability.

Through the contribution from consumers when purchasing products of P&G brands at GO!, Big C, and Tops Market, 6,000 native trees of precious species in Xuan Lien and Ca Mau Nature Reserves were planted in just two weeks of the campaign.

Through the diversity of participants, the event showcased a remarkable spirit of togetherness and a powerful message that positive change knows no boundaries.

P&G Vietnam’s two brand ambassadors for Head & Shoulders and Pantene, singer Isaac and actress Kha Ngan, joined hands with the leadership of P&G Vietnam and its partner Central Retail Vietnam, together with nearly 200 employees, in this event for forest preservation in Vietnam.

"We believe that change truly happens when individuals and organizations come together with a shared purpose. Through the Forests For Good initiative, we are nurturing nature and the spirit of collaboration and sustainable action. By coming together, we demonstrate the power of collective efforts in positively impacting our environment," said Priyamvada Srivastava, Vice President and Country Manager of P&G Vietnam.

P&G Vietnam and Central Retail Vietnam will continue planting 500 trees of indigenous large timber species, covering 1.25 hectares at Dong Nai Nature Reserve, to sustain momentum through collaboration with partners in the company's value chain.

The Forests For Good initiative is part of P&G's ongoing sustainability efforts in Vietnam. With a presence in Vietnam for more than 28 years, P&G has made sustainability a cornerstone of its business operations in the country, together with its global commitments, aiming to make life better for people and the planet through innovative product initiatives and daily activities.

Such a core principle of sustainability has driven the company's efforts to create a positive impact on families, communities, and the environment, with a particular focus on climate, forests, water, and packaging.

P&G’s two plants in Binh Duong Province have led the way in environmentally friendly practices, from the design of their workshops to the end products. These facilities utilize solar power systems, promote material recycling, minimize plastic use in products, and harness rainwater for reuse.

P&G’s plant in Binh Duong has already been a zero-manufacturing-waste-to-landfill site since 2014 and a recipient of Green Book Awards from the Binh Duong provincial authority.

P&G Vietnam spearheads various programs that aim at raising awareness about reducing, reusing, and recycling packaging. These initiatives extend to improving environmental education standards by contributing recycled materials for enhanced learning environments in primary schools in Vietnam.

Within the factory premises and workplaces, P&G relentlessly promotes employee awareness of the importance of environmental protection.

Initiatives like battery recycling and advanced waste collection technologies underscore the company's commitment to instilling a culture of environmental responsibility among its staff.

P&G Vietnam has been honored with numerous prestigious awards for its social responsibilities, including the Saigon Times CSR honor in 2022, the Grand Prize ESG Impact Awards 2022 by AmCham Vietnam, and the Green Book Prize by Binh Duong Province.
