Northern province records a new Covid-19 case

The northern province of Bac Giang recorded one new Covid-19 community transmission Wednesday, taking the national tally from ongoing outbreaks to 484 cases.

"Patient 2070" is a 22-year old man who was among nearly 600 people quarantined since February 1 when the first case was recorded in the province.

In the last 24 hours Vietnam has recorded 17 community transmissions, and since January 28, 484 in 13 localities, led by Hai Duong (327 cases), Quang Ninh (53 cases), Ho Chi Minh City (33 cases) and Hanoi (28 cases). Bac Giang now has two cases.

The national tally is now 2,070 cases with 1,474 recoveries and 35 deaths. Of the active cases, 32 have tested negative at least once.

Over 99,000 people are quarantined – 20,000 in centralized facilities, 800 in hospitals, and the rest at home or other designated accommodations.

Covid-19 has claimed 2.2 million lives globally.
