A 24-year-old tourist from Moldova was rescued by police after being swept out to sea while swimming off Nha Trang's coast on Thursday afternoon.

Denis, who was visiting the popular coastal city with friends, was swimming near Bach Dang Park along Tran Phu Street when rough seas and rain hit the area. Moments later, strong waves pulled him away from shore. A friend tried to help but could not reach him, shouting for assistance as Denis drifted farther out.

Officers from Waterway Police Team No. 1, under the local traffic police department, immediately deployed a rescue canoe. They reached the struggling swimmer more than 50 meters from the beach and brought him safely back to shore. Denis is now in stable condition.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, Khanh Hoa Province, home to Nha Trang, experienced thunderstorms and heavy rain throughout the day, leading to widespread flooding and affecting local residents.
