Meta AI available in Vietnam

Vietnamese users may now use the Meta AI tool, an AI language model similar to ChatGPT or Gemini, for free either on browsers or through the Messenger and Instagram applications.

Several social media users said they were excited to try out the new language model by Meta.

"It’s easy to command, it has quick and natural responses, not inferior to the paid ChatGPT version," said Trong Hoa in Ho Chi Minh City after an hour of trying out the model.

"It can also create images quickly and realistically, even as the animation may look a bit unnatural."

Nguyen Minh, a programmer, said Meta AI can write codes faster than ChatGPT and Gemini can. "Besides, it’s free," he added.

The Vi, another programmer in HCMC, said the fact that Meta AI can give such quick and natural responses might be due to users’ data on different platforms, including Facebook, Instagram and Threads, being used to train it.

Meta AI said it began supporting the Vietnamese language from Oct. 9. Previously on Oct. 1, Nick Clegg, President at Global Affairs at Meta, said the company is the only major tech firm of the Silicon Valley to provide a free AI application for Vietnamese users.

Meta AI first became available in the U.S. before reaching over 20 markets by July. It works as a chatbot similar to ChatGPT, but utilizes the large language model LLaMA. Users can ask the chatbot on multiple topics, as well as requesting it to generate images based on text prompts.
