A 39-year-old man in the south central Binh Thuan Province was hit by a moving train after lifting a barrier and crossing the tracks.

Employees of the North-South railway at a section in Muong Man Commune of Ham Thuan Nam District in Binh Thuan said that around midnight Wednesday, as the train was about 600 meters away and the bell had already rung, Le Truong Giang deliberately lifted the barrier and drove his motorbike across the tracks.

The train arrived shortly later, hitting and dragging both him and the motorbike for around 10 meters before he was tossed to one of the tracks and the motorbike the opposite side.

He died on the spot while the motorbike was crushed.

His motivation for crossing the tracks remains unclear.
