A man from northern Hung Yen Province is under investigation for allegedly counterfeiting a range of cleaning products from well-known Thai brands.

Luong Ngoc Tuan, 34, was accused of producing and selling fake laundry detergents, dishwashing liquids and other cleaning products between 2023 and May 2024, according to local police. The counterfeit items reportedly imitated popular Thai brands such as D-nee, Hygiene and Tauau.

During a raid on Tuan's workshop, authorities seized equipment, chemicals and labels used to manufacture hundreds of fake products.

The counterfeit goods were sold for as low as VND20,000-40,000 ($0.80-1.61) per liter, significantly cheaper than authentic products, which retail for around VND200,000 ($8.07) for a three-liter container.

Police warned that the low prices make these products attractive to consumers, but they pose potential risks. The fake items not only degrade clothing quality but could also pose health hazards, such as respiratory issues, due to the lack of safety assessments.
