A South Korean man went viral after leaping between two high-rise buildings on the 50th floor in Bangkok to find his wife and daughter during last week's powerful earthquake centered in Myanmar.

Kwon Young-jun was exercising on the 52nd floor of a residential complex in Bangkok when the 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar on March 28, causing severe tremors throughout the region, including Thailand. At that moment, Kwon's Thai wife and young daughter were at home on the 30th floor of an adjacent building connected by a sky walkway on the 50th floor.

The intense shaking damaged the walkway between the buildings. In a dramatic viral video captured by onlookers and circulated widely on social media, Kwon can be seen risking his life by jumping across the gap of the partially broken walkway, determined to reach his family despite the buildings swaying from the quake.

After safely reaching the other building, Kwon discovered that his wife and daughter had already evacuated. He swiftly descended more than 40 floors to reunite with them.

Kwon's act quickly became a highlight of the earthquake coverage, capturing attention across Thailand.

His wife, a popular Thai skincare entrepreneur with over 1.3 million social media followers, expressed shock and relief upon seeing the footage, The Straits Times reported.

Kwon sustained only minor injuries. "I was just worried about my child at the time. I had to find and protect my wife and daughter," Kwon told Thairath TV.

The apartment complex's developer, Origin, reassured residents that the buildings remained safe following the incident, explaining that the walkway's design allowed movement to minimize earthquake damage.

The devastating Myanmar earthquake on March 28 was the strongest the country had seen in a century, causing widespread damage, resulting in at least 2,700 fatalities across Myanmar and impacting neighboring Southeast Asian nations.

There were 21 people killed and 34 injured in Bangkok, primarily at a skyscraper construction site.
