Indian woman is Vietnam’s latest Covid-19 case

An Indian woman has become Vietnam’s latest Covid-19 patient, taking the nation’s active case count to 57.

"Patient 1141," a 29-year-old woman from India, is the wife of "Patient 1125," an Indian man who tested positive for the novel coronavirus on Saturday.

She had arrived October 6 at the Tan Son Nhat International Airport along with her husband on IndiGo flight 6E9471. Results of the second sample test done at the HCMC Disease Control Center showed Monday that she was positive for the virus. She is being treated at Cu Chi Field Hospital.

The new patient has raised the nation Covid-19 tally to 1,141, with 1,046 recoveries and 35 deaths.

The active cases being treated at 12 medical centers and are in stable condition. Of these, 10 have tested negative for the first time, three have done so for the second and third times.

Vietnam has recorded 691 community transmissions of the novel coronavirus so far, and the rest have been imported. There are over 13,000 people currently in quarantine.

The country has gone 48 days without any community transmission.

Worldwide, over 40 million Covid-19 cases have been reported so far, with the death toll crossing 1.1 million.
