Police in Bangkok have arrested a 41-year-old Indian man who allegedly threatened people with what looked like a gun, later found to be a cigarette lighter, in the crowded Siam Square district.

The man, identified as Sahil Ram Thadani, was seen shouting at passers-by in front of Novotel Bangkok on Siam Square Soi 6 in Pathum Wan district on Oct. 13, alarming onlookers and prompting a police response, Mothership reported.

Officers said Thadani’s erratic behavior was likely caused by hallucinations from ingesting cannabis. A police report revealed that he previously served as a director of three companies in India, all of which have since ceased operations, according to the Bangkok Post.

A video of the incident, which has circulated online, shows police and security guards trying to calm him down. Thadani allegedly disobeyed their orders and brandished an object resembling a handgun, later confirmed to be a gun-shaped lighter.

He was charged with threatening behavior and causing a public disturbance.
