Hungarian expert Vietnam’s latest Covid-19 case

A Hungarian expert flying in from India has taken Vietnam’s active Covid-19 case count to 122, health authorities confirmed Thursday afternoon.

The 28-year-old woman, "Patient 1253," landed October 29 in Quang Ninh Province’s Van Don Airport on Polish Airlines flight LO9001 from India. Quarantined upon entry, she was confirmed positive for the novel coronavirus Thursday and is being treated at Hanoi’s National Hospital for Tropical Diseases.

Two recoveries were also announced Thursday. Among the currently active cases, 47 have tested negative for the novel coronavirus at least once. Over 15,000 are in quarantine nationwide.

Vietnam 's latest Covid-19 tally stands at 1,253 cases with 1,093 recoveries and 35 deaths. Many of the deaths have been of elderly patients with underlying conditions like diabetes and kidney failure.

No community transmission of the virus has been recorded in Vietnam for more than two months.
