Flames from an apartment in the building's GM2 block produced thick black smoke that spread along the hallway and outside the 22-story building, triggering the fire alarm at around 6:45 p.m.

Many residents, including those carrying small children and pets, fled via the emergency stairs.

Lan, a resident on the 10th floor, recounted that she was cooking when the power went out and the fire alarm blared. "I quickly grabbed my child and ran toward the emergency exit lights. Many children were scared and crying amidst the chaos," she said.

Three fire trucks and dozens of firefighters arrived within 10 minutes to control the blaze, while simultaneously checking all floors to ensure no one was trapped. Three ambulances were also dispatched to provide medical assistance.

Nguyen Thi Thanh Thoa, chairwoman of Duc Nhuan Ward, said the apartment’s owners were not at home and that the fire caused no casualties.

The Golden Maison apartment complex consists of three 22-story blocks and is about 2 km from Tan Son Nhat Airport.
