The discovery was made on Sunday in Bien Hoa City's Long Binh Tan Ward, as the worker climbed up to repair the metal roof of a private home. To his horror, he found a full set of human remains stuffed inside an unused stainless steel water tank.
Police quickly launched an investigation. According to the homeowner, the tank had not been in use for several months after the family switched over to a direct tap water supply.
During their preliminary search, investigators also recovered a wallet lying on the roof containing vehicle registration documents linked to Long An Province, southwest of Bien Hoa.
Authorities are now trying to determine the identity of the victim and how long the remains had been concealed inside the tank.
