Around VND600 million was given to renovate school facilities, upgrading electrical systems, and rebuilding fences. More than VND960 million was to help with teaching and learning equipment that was damaged by the flood.
Hope Foundation and Uniqlo Vietnam Co., Ltd. also granted 9,000 clothing items to children in five of the schools in Van Yen District. They were products from the Re.UNIQLO program, where used clothes were recycled into new products.
Nearly 300 sets of clothes and school supplies from Hope School's students in Da Nang were also sent to Quyet Hung campus of Xuan Ai Secondary School in Van Yen.

Hoang Nhu Luu, principal of Tan Hop Primary and Secondary School which received VND447 million from the aid for renovating the school and restoring teaching equipment, said the school for 375 students was 2.5 meters flooded due to the flood.
Walls had fallen, while all materials, books, and school equipment in the school library were buried in mud, Luu said, adding that electric lights, televisions, computers, printers, tables and chairs were all damaged.
"Typhoon Yagi has caused severe damage to the school, a few students whose houses were destroyed in the flood had asked to stay at school."

The principal of Xuan Ai Secondary School said that, in addition to receiving VND363 million to overcome flood damage, the students were also excited to wear beautiful clothes sent from the donors.
"After the flood, Quyet Hung campus's gate was destroyed, walls, restrooms and teaching equipment were all damaged. We were very grateful to Hope Foundation and the sponsors for lending teachers and students a helping hand," the principal said.
According to the Department of Education and Training of Luc Yen District, Yen Bai Province, as of Sept. 16, 48 schools in the district were flooded, sunk, and severely damaged. Two students in the area died from the flood, and nearly 1,000 students lost their houses.

In Van Yen District, 10 schools were seriously flooded or damaged by landslides.
As of Sept. 26, a total of 2,949 families of students were affected by the flood, suffering damage worth about VND84 billion. Over 200 teachers in the district suffered losses worth more than VND12 billion.
Hope Foundation's "To Weather the Storm" campaign in Yen Bai received the support from Lixil Vietnam Co., Ltd. (VND400 million), De Heus Co., Ltd. (over VND300 million), Funtap Joint Stock Company and Techlab Technology Joint Stock Company (VND220 million), Ms. Pham Thi Ngoc Ha and her family (VND100 million), on-demand delivery platform Lalamove and thousands of VnExpress readers. UNIQLO contributed VND1 billion to the campaign, including VND363 million to support Yen Bai.
A representative of De Heus Co., Ltd. said that during its 16 years in Vietnam, the company aims to support farmers to develop the livestock industry and the local economy.
"Thanks to Hope Foundation, we were given a chance to support the people, especially children in the mountainous areas to improve the learning environment, and to return to schools safely after the aftermath of typhoon Yagi."

The "To Weather the Storm" campaign had received VND8 billion in aid as of Sept. 24. Hope Foundation has been working with localities to survey damage, and make specific support plans for each location. The foundation focuses on restoring infrastructure in the education sector such as renovating damaged classrooms; rebuilding embankments to safeguard schools; and equipping students affected with books, school supplies, and clothes.
On Sept. 19, Hope Foundation granted approximately VND1 billion for 9 schools in Chi Lang District, Lang Son Province. Following Lang Son and Yen Bai, the foundation will head to schools in Lao Cai Province to continue the campaign.
