A Hong Kong tourist was killed in Otaru City, Hokkaido on Thursday after being hit by a train while taking photos on the tracks.

The woman, 61, was standing on the railway tracks when she was hit by an incoming train, Xinhua reported. She was taken to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The woman had come to Otaru with her husband for a holiday, the Dimsum Daily reported. The incident resulted in the suspension of 19 train services, affecting around 8,200 passengers.
