According to the city's plan, high-altitude fireworks will be launched from the entrance of the Saigon River Tunnel in An Khanh Ward, the Central Park in the New Urban Center in Binh Duong Ward (formerly Binh Duong Province), and Bai Sau (Back Beach) Central Square in Vung Tau Ward (formerly Vung Tau City).
The low-altitude show will take place at Dam Sen Cultural Park in Binh Thoi Ward, said Vo Ho Hoang Vu, chief of office at the HCMC Department of Culture and Sports, during a Thursday news briefing.
Each display will last 15 minutes, starting at 9 p.m. The program is jointly organized by the Department of Culture and Sports and the City Command, in coordination with other units.
Ahead of the fireworks, a special art performance will be staged at 7:30 p.m. simultaneously at three sites: Nguyen Hue pedestrian street in Saigon Ward, the outdoor stage at Central Park in Binh Duong Ward’s New Urban Center, and Thuy Van Square in Vung Tau Ward.
To commemorate the 80th National Day, the city will also host a series of activities. These include photo exhibitions, visits to martyrs' cemeteries, incense and flower offerings, and 20 art performances across wards and communes.
