HCMC traffic collision turns into bloody fight

A street scuffle in Ho Chi Minh City after a traffic collision on Tuesday sent two people to hospital with severe injuries, police said.

A 30-year-old man was driving a truck along Road 35 of HCMC’s Thu Duc City when he collided with a car Tuesday noon.

A scuffle soon began, with three car occupants attacking the truck driver with knives and other items. The trucker retreated to a nearby cafe, where he was pursued and got sprayed with tear gas. Passersby who tried to break up the fight were also assaulted.

The incident lasted around a minute and was filmed.

The truck driver and another 29-year-old man received multiple injuries as a result, and are now being treated at Cho Ray Hospital.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
