HCMC to screen U23 Asian Cup semifinal on 6 giant displays at Nguyen Hue walking street

Ho Chi Minh City will install six large LED screens on Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street, allowing fans to gather and cheer for the national team in their U23 Asian Cup semifinal match against China tonight.

The screens each measuring 7 m in height and 12 m in width will be positioned along the pedestrian thoroughfare from the Ton Duc Thang intersection to the Le Loi intersection, according to Vo Trong Nam, deputy director of the HCMC Department of Culture and Sports.

The installation is funded through private sponsorship. The screens will also be used for the third-place playoff on Friday and the final on Saturday. Broadcasts for these events are scheduled to begin at 8:30 p.m. and will continue until the conclusion of each match.

The game today started at 10:30 p.m., Hanoi time.

U23 Vietnam are seeking a strong finish at the 2026 AFC U23 Asian Cup held in Saudi Arabia. The team progressed through the group stage with three consecutive victories and secured their semifinal berth after a 3-2 win over the UAE in the quarterfinals.

This advancement marks the second time in history that Vietnam have reached the AFC U23 Asian Cup semifinals, following their historic run in 2018, where they finished runners up after losing 1-2 to Uzbekistan in the final.
