HCMC on Thursday initiated preparations to vaccinate those returning to the city from other localities.

The municipal Department of Health would prepare vaccine supply and provide support in accordance with the needs of districts, as well as instructing local authorities to erect vaccination points near the city's gateways, accessible to those who return to Ho Chi Minh City.

The Department of Industry and Trade and management boards of industrial and hi-tech parks have requested businesses to list workers who have yet to be vaccinated, especially those who return from other localities.

Nguyen Huu Hung, deputy director of the HCMC health department, said the city would provide opportunities to soon vaccinate those who return to the southern metropolis.

Hung said unvaccinated people will be given their first shots upon arriving in the city, while those who have received one shot will be provided the second shot following standard interval.

"The health department has sent documents to districts. I hope people who return to Ho Chi Minh City would sign up with local authorities to be vaccinated," he said.

HCMC has vaccinated around 7.1 million people with at least one Covid-19 vaccine shot. A total 5.6 million people have been fully vaccinated.
