HCMC will need more than 18 million Covid-19 vaccine doses in 2022 to give adults booster shots and immunize children aged three onwards.

More than 14.4 million doses are needed for booster shots, over 1.5 million doses to vaccinate children aged 12 to 17 and more than two million are for children aged 3-11, said Nguyen Hoai Nam, director of the city’s Health Department.

In a statement sent Thursday to the General Department of Preventive Medicine under the Ministry of Health, he also said that from now until the year-end, the city will need around four million doses for children aged 12 and above.

The vaccines required this year include 696,000 AstraZeneca, more than 60,000 Pfizer and over 264,000 Sinopharm doses.

As of Oct. 31, the city had been allocated more than 14.2 million doses of different Covid-19 vaccines.

The city has administered more than 13.7 million doses, with around 5.9 million people fully vaccinated. HCMC has also transferred 900,000 doses to other localities as requested by the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology.
