A man in HCMC was arrested Tuesday after stealing 36 iPhones and two MacBooks worth VND800 million ($32,171) at a tech firm.

Nguyen Tan Nhat, 21, was arrested by police of Binh Thanh District to be investigated for theft. All the stolen items have been seized.

On October 27, a manager of the tech firm found out that the company's safe had been broken into, and 36 iPhones and two MacBooks were lost.

Security camera footages revealed that a man, wearing a mask and a helmet, entered the company’s storage. He then took the phones and other properties into two bags before leaving. The entire ordeal happened in around three minutes.

Just a day later, police was able to track down Nhat to an apartment. He admitted to have been watching the company to prepare the heist. He wore a uniform of a ride-hailing service to hide his identity, before breaking the locks and entering the company. He hid the iPhones and other items in the apartment, while disposing of the uniform and other tools he used during the heist.
