A man in HCMC was arrested Wednesday after accidentally killing his lover in a bondage play last week.

Nguyen Quang Vu, 32, is being accused of involuntary manslaughter after causing the death of his lover, 26-year-old Nam, police in Binh Thanh District stated.

Forensic analysis revealed Vu used ropes and rags to bind Nam and cover his mouth and eyes, before using black tape to cover his head. The tape was determined to be the cause of Nam’s death, authorities said.

Vu said Nam on Dec. 23 invited him to his apartment on Nguyen Huu Canh Street for a bout of bondage, which both had performed multiple times in the past.

After the play, Vu said goodbye to Nam and left the apartment, leaving him still wrapped up.

But on Dec. 24, when Vu tried to call Nam, nobody answered. The latter’s relatives later found him dead in the apartment, kneeling and with his head wrapped in tape.

Multiple sex toys and camera memory cards were also discovered in the room.

An involuntary manslaughter charge carries a jail sentence of up to 10 years.
