The number of Covid-19 patients released from hospital has risen in recent days, reaching around 2,000 per day on July 24, 25 and 26, according to the Ho Chi Minh City's Center for Disease Control (HCDC).
Since the beginning of the pandemic, the city has discharged 21,338 patients in total.
So far in the new wave that hit Vietnam three months ago, the southern metropolis has recorded more than 74,855 cases and is currently the worst hit locality.
It has recorded 815 Covid-19 deaths after the first fatality in June. Most deaths have not been confirmed by the Ministry of Health, said the HCDC.
HCMC has since July 13 cut the hospitalization period for uncritical Covid-19 cases.
After staying at a hospital for a week, patients would be tested, and if the result is negative or shows a low viral concentration, be sent home two days later.
