Vietnam recorded 4,560 new local Covid-19 cases Saturday night, including 1,677 in epicenter HCMC, raising the city's tally in the new wave to 90,243.

Of the night's tally, the southern metropolis's was followed by its neighbors Binh Duong (1,207) and Long An (544).

Other localities recording new infections are the Mekong Delta's Dong Thap (115), Can Tho (17) and Hau Giang (17), An Giang (2) and Bac Lieu (1); the central region's Khanh Hoa (335), Da Nang (55), Binh Thuan (37), Phu Yen (30), Dak Lak (21), Binh Dinh (19), Gia Lai (13), Nghe An (11), Quang Nam (10), Thua Thien-Hue (9), Dak Nong (8), Ninh Thuan (5), Thanh Hoa (5), Lam Dong (3), Ha Tinh (2), Quang Ngai (1) and Quang Binh (1); and the northern region's Hanoi (43), Vinh Phuc (4), Ha Nam (3), Hai Duong (3), Ninh Binh (2) and Hai Phong (1).

Over three months into its fourth wave, the most challenging that Vietnam has encountered, the country has recorded 141,826 cases in 62 of its 63 cities and provinces.

The country discharged 3,250 patients on Saturday, raising the number of recovered patients since the start of the pandemic to 38,734.

Another 145 deaths in six localities, including 90 in HCMC, between July 19 and 31 were registered, raising the fatalities since the start of the pandemic to 1,306, including 1,271 in the fourth wave.
