Hanoi continues to experience searing hot weather, but a brief reprieve is expected starting Tuesday thanks to rains.

Due to a low-pressure area in the west and the Foehn winds, northern and central Vietnam, including the capital, are on Monday continuing to experience temperatures of up to 41 degrees Celsius (105.6 degrees Fahrenheit) in some places, according to the National Center for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting.

Temperatures would remain above 35 degrees for up to 19 hours during the day, it added.

On Sunday several weather stations in Hanoi recorded temperatures of over 40 degrees.

But on Tuesday much-needed rains are expected to come from the north, mainly in the midlands and mountainous areas mostly at night and early morning, according to the center.

U.S. weather forecasting service AccuWeather said Hanoi would have temperatures of 29-38 degrees Celsius on Monday before they go down to around 32 degrees on Tuesday and rise again to 29-37 degrees again this weekend.

The central region is expected to continue experiencing temperatures of up to 40 degrees Celsius until Tuesday after which the low-pressure area responsible for the heat would weaken, the national forecasting center said.

Then the high temperatures would be limited to localities between Thanh Hoa and Quang Ngai provinces, with a maximum of below 37 degrees.

The Central Highlands and southern regions are forecast to get heavy monsoon rains in the afternoons and nights. They will have maximum temperatures of 32 degrees and 35 degrees.
