Hanoi motorbike driver killed in collision with Ferrari

A Ferrari which had a diplomatic license plate crashed into a motorbike in Hanoi's Nam Tu Liem District early Monday morning, instantly killing the motorcyclist.

Hoang Bang Viet, 25, was driving the car on Le Quang Dao Street at 3:45 a.m. when he hit the Wave Honda motorbike.

The collision killed the motorbike driver on the spot, broke the motorbike in half, and damaged the car's front part.

Police said Viet had left the scene, thus they have not been able to conduct tests to determine if he was driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Police had to block all but one lane of the street to investigate the crash scene, causing severe congestion amid peak morning traffic hours.

The Ferrari left a 150-meter skid mark at the scene, lying 50 m from the motorbike and 150 m from the victim.

A Ferrari can travel at up to 340 kph.
