The Hanoi Center for Disease Control has devised three options for its Covid-19 vaccination program that seeks to immunize 200,000 people a day.

It outlined them at a meeting Wednesday, all of them requiring the setting up of vaccination sites across the city.

The first plan will create 1,000-1,200 sites in all, the second is to have two sites in each commune or ward and the third will depend on the population density in each area.

Ngo Khanh Hoang, deputy head of the CDC’s infectious disease prevention department, said the goal is to give 200,000 shots a day.

The capital has gone nine days without a new Covid-19 case and allowed the reopening of certain business establishments on Tuesday after a period of shutdown, including restaurants and barbershops.

Hanoi has recorded 466 community cases so far in the latest coronavirus wave that began in late April, including 148 in two locked down hospitals. It has given out over 81,200 shots of the vaccine by AstraZeneca since June 12.
