Hanoi drone light show canceled following rehearsal mishap

Authorities in Hanoi have canceled a planned drone light show at the My Dinh Stadium on Lunar New Year's Eve Tuesday night after several drones fell and caught fire during a rehearsal.

In an announcement by the Nam Tu Liem District People’s Committee, the Tet performance program, scheduled at My Dinh Square–My Dinh Stadium on Le Duc Tho Street, was set to feature the drone display alongside appearances by popular local artists.

However, organizers decided to cancel the drone portion after evaluation to ensure the success of the overall event.

During the Jan. 26 rehearsal, several drones reportedly fell from the sky and burst into flames near the stadium. No injuries were reported.
