A Covid-19 case in Hanoi was present in My Dinh Stadium for the World Cup qualification match between Vietnam and Japan on Nov. 11, authorities announced Wednesday.

The 30-year-old man from Son Tay Town tested positive for the coronavirus on Wednesday via health screening, the Son Tay medical department said Wednesday, as reported by Vietnam News Agency.

Contact tracing efforts have so far revealed 13 people linked to him. Local authorities have contacted the Hanoi Center for Disease Control to perform further contact tracing and deploy coronavirus prevention measures.

Around 12,000 spectators were present at the stadium on Nov. 11 to watch the match.

Hanoi has recorded over 6,800 Covid-19 cases in the fourth coronavirus wave, with the number rising in recent weeks. A total 54 patients have died in the capital to date.
