Tran Sy Thanh, chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee, said the eastern parts of the iconic Hoan Kiem Lake would be renovated for more public spaces, better serving the people in the city.
The committee has requested departments to help organizations, units and families within the renovated area to restructure and relocate, ensuring normal functions for businesses and normal lives for people.
Hanoi has requested Vietnam Electricity and other related entities to cooperate with the Hoan Kiem District People’s Committee and other departments to ensure normal power supply.
The renovated area would span along Dinh Tien Hoang Street, from Tran Nguyen Han Street to the headquarters of the Department of Culture and Sports on Hang Dau Street.
Hoan Kiem Lake, spanning 12 ha, is surrounded by Dinh Tien Hoang, Hang Khay and Le Thai To streets. Several state entities, businesses and historical sites are located in the area.
