Fearing a complex outbreak, Vietnam's northern port city of Hai Phong has suspended recruitment of people who have not been double-vaccinated against Covid-19.

The order was delivered to Hai Phong Economic Zone Authority (HEZA) and the municipal Department of Industry and Trade on Friday.

Both units have to quickly review all laborers at industrial parks and production facilities that have yet to be fully immunized and report to the Health Department.

District authorities have also been tasked with making lists of laborers that have not got two vaccine doses.

The city made the new decision as the rate of new cases among the unvaccinated acoss industrial zones increases.

The average number of daily infections in the past 14 days has jumped by 1,923 percent against the previous 14 days.

The city has achieved a vaccination rate of 95.4 percent for all people over 18.
