Scheduled for Dec. 19-22 at Gia Lam Airport in Hanoi, the event will feature 1.5 days of free public access, beginning at 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 21.
Major General Le Ngoc Than, Political Chief of the General Department of Defense Industry, said the exhibition will span over 5,000 square meters.
"Countries with advanced defense industries, including the U.S., China, Russia, India, Israel, France, the U.K., and Spain, have confirmed their participation," he told the press on Friday.
This marks the second Vietnam International Defense Exhibition, following the inaugural event in 2022, which was limited in scale "due to inexperience."
The 2024 edition will feature a larger scope, more activities, and a greater number of international delegations, Than added.
"The range and diversity of weapons and equipment, including newly produced technologies since 2022, will be significantly enhanced," he said.
The event aims to foster partnerships with global counterparts while showcasing Vietnam's defense industry, which remains open to collaboration with advanced nations for mutual growth, he said.
In prior communication with the press, representatives from the general defense department highlighted that the exhibition will feature a wide array of combat vehicles, technological solutions, weapons, and equipment for naval, ground, air defense-air force, cyber operations, and logistics support. The opening ceremony will include an air force flyover, as well as special operations and martial arts demonstrations.
For the air defense-air force, the exhibition organizers plan to display fighter jets, helicopters, trainers, unmanned aerial vehicles; air-to-air missiles, air defense missiles, shoulder-fired missiles; artillery systems, and air defense missile complexes.
For the navy, the organizers will showcase submarines, warships, support vessels, unmanned ships; reconnaissance and underwater surveillance devices, sonar; torpedoes, naval mines; surface-to-sea missiles, and ship-to-ship missiles.
For the ground forces, units will exhibit infantry weapons, heavy firepower weapons; ammunition for infantry, artillery, and anti-tank systems; observation and targeting devices for day and night; ground artillery, self-propelled guns; surface-to-surface missiles, anti-tank missiles; tanks, armored vehicles, troop carriers, and military transport vehicles.
