A man in Ho Chi Minh City was arrested after tearing down his neighbor’s gate when asked to turn down the loud karaoke music coming from his workshop.

Police say Bui Huu Khanh, 44, was taken into custody five days after the incident, which happened late on June 22 in Binh Hung Hoa Ward, Binh Tan District.

Bui Huu Khanh tears down a neighbor's gates after receiving complaints about his workers singing karaoke too loudly.

According to investigators, Khanh owns a garment workshop next door to the victim, a 38-year-old man named Viet. That night, Viet returned home from work to find deafening karaoke music blasting from Khanh’s workshop, where his employees were singing. Khanh himself was out drinking and singing karaoke with friends at a restaurant.

Annoyed by the noise, Viet called Khanh to ask him to tell his workers to keep it down. Instead, police said, Khanh became furious. He rushed back to his workshop, gathered a group of people and stormed over to Viet’s house to confront him.

Finding the door locked, Khanh shouted for Viet to come out and threw a garbage bag at the security camera. When Viet opened the door, Khanh shoved it so hard that it broke off its hinges and crashed onto the street. The confrontation ended only after others intervened.

The entire incident was captured on CCTV and quickly went viral on social media, sparking public outrage.
