The vaccine usage advisory council under the health ministry has proposed that the fourth Covid-19 vaccine shot be taken at least four months after from the third one.

The fourth Covid-19 vaccine shot would be eligible for those aged 50 and above, immunocompromised adults, those with high Covid-19 risks and those at the frontline of the Covid-19 fight, the council decided.

Those who’ve already received three Covid-19 vaccine shots and still get infected would have to wait for at least three months after their recovery to get their fourth shots.

Vietnam has not formulated a concrete plan to roll out fourth Covid-19 vaccine shots, but the General Department of Preventive Medicine has requested the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology to do it. The fourth shot would either be Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca or the same vaccine type as the third shot.

As of now, 80.4 percent of the population have been fully vaccinated, while 57.1 percent of the population have received their third Covid-19 vaccine shots.
