A Saturday report by inspectors of the HCMC Department of Health said the 70-year-old woman came to the facility for a facelift, and the procedure was performed on March 13.
The patient later showed signs of delirium and her breathing stopped. Doctors tried to treat her case by injecting her with 11 vials of adrenaline, as well as defibrillating her. When her hearbeats resumed, she was transferred to the Military Hospital 175 in a deep coma.
A representative of the Military Hospital 175 said the patient died on Friday despite doctors' best efforts.
"During the surgery, there were medical problems that lay outside the hospital's treatment capabilities," the Japan-Korea Beauty Hospital said in a report. The cause of the patient's condition has not been confirmed.
Many fatal incidents from cosmetic procedures have been reported in HCMC the past year.
Recently a 59-year-old woman also died after a facelift procedure at a HCMC beauty hospital. Her cause of death was later determined to be shock that had to do with the anesthesia used during the procedure.
Earlier this year, a 26-year-old woman also died after several procedures, including breast implants and wisdom teeth removal at the Van Hanh General Hospital in the city.
In June last year, a 27-year-old woman died after a breast augmentation procedure at a hotel in District 10.
Just two months before, a 45-year-old Taiwanese woman died following cosmetic surgery at the Korean Star Hospital.
