A fire erupted at a two-story house of over 100 years old in Hoi An in central Vietnam on Sunday, severely damaging its properties and architecture.

At around 10:10 p.m., the fire began to spread from the second floor of the house on Nguyen Thai Hoc Street, which was being used as a food and beverage establishment. It is made mostly of bricks and wood.

Several locals discovered the fire and tried to help the house's owner put it out, but they failed. The fire then spread to the first floor, engulfing it.

Firefighters were later dispatched to the scene.

"After about two hours, the flames were put out, including those which caught on two neighboring houses," said Nguyen Tran Vu, chairman of Minh An Ward, adding that there were no casualties.

An investigation is ongoing to figure out the cause of the fire, though several witnesses said it was most likely due to an electrical fault.
