Epic Games phenomenon Fortnite is free on Android

Fortnite is played by more than 200 million people worldwide.

Released in 2017 by Epic Games, Fortnite is a free-to-play battle royale online video game in which players collect resources and fight each other to be the last one standing.

Fortnite earned a record $2.4 billion in 2018, the highest annual revenue ever earned by any game in history, according to a report from gaming firm SuperData. The game has been played by more than 200 million people worldwide and become one of the world's most popular games.

The game is available for Android users besides PCs and consoles. However, not all Android smartphones are allowed to play the game while older phones might not be able to run the game at all.

Here are a few steps to install Fortnite on Android

Since the game is not available on Google Play Store, you will have to download Fortnite for Android from Epic’s website.

From there download the .APK file to your device. You will have to give some permissions to the Fortnite installer. Depending on your Android device, you may get a warning sign about installing .APK files.

Once the installer is downloaded, you will need to launch the Epic Fortnite Installer app. It will automatically start downloading the game. However, you will need to launch the game to complete the download.

Since it is usually around 3 GB, it can take several hours depending on your Internet connection. After the game is installed, you can log into your Epic account and start playing.

The game is available on various mobile phones including Samsung Galaxy, Google, Asus, Essential, Huawei, LG, Nokia 8, OnePlus and Sony. Check this list to know if your device is supported.

If your phone is not in the list, Fortnite can still work on phones with OS (recommended Android 8.0 or higher, 64 bit), RAM 3GB or higher and GPU Adreno 530 or higher, Mali-G71 MP20, Mali-G72 MP12 or higher.

Epic Games has stated that it only allows phones with an adequate anti-cheat system to play Fortnite.
