A woman gave birth on a Bangkok street just minutes after fleeing a hospital during a powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake that rocked Myanmar and sent tremors across Southeast Asia on Friday.

The expectant mother was evacuated from the hospital by medical staff as tremors shook the Thai capital, forcing healthcare workers to urgently deliver her baby outside on the street. Videos capturing the unusual birth quickly went viral across social media platforms, reported India Today.

Witnesses described moments of panic as hospital patients were evacuated onto nearby sidewalks, some on stretchers or wheelchairs, amid fears of structural damage.

The earthquake, centered in Myanmar, has resulted in catastrophic damage with the Myanmar junta reporting over 1,000 deaths and more than 2,000 injuries as of March 29, according to AFP.

The powerful quake sent tremors across the region, impacting neighboring Thailand and Vietnam. Ten people were killed in Bangkok, mostly in the collapse of a skyscraper under construction.
