Authorities advised travelers departing from Thailand's Phuket Island to arrive at the airport well ahead of their flights due to floods on the island, which is causing widespread traffic disruptions.

The Phuket Airport has recommended that passengers allow an additional 3-4 hours for their journey to avoid missing flights, as flooded roads may lead to severe traffic jams, according to a report by the Bangkok Post.

Travelers are also urged to monitor weather updates and check their flight status regularly. As of Monday morning, no flight schedules at Phuket Airport had been affected by the flooding.

The island has been experiencing severe inundations in several areas following heavy rains on Sunday night. Meteorologists predict that the rain will continue throughout the week.

Local officials are actively working to manage the floodwaters and ensure that major roads remain passable. However, flooding during the rainy season is a recurring challenge on the island, Thaiger reported.
