Dozens of dolphins made a rare, enchanting appearance off the coast of Nha Trang, a popular resort city in central Vietnam, delighting both tourists and locals.

Van, a local, was among those who witnessed the remarkable sight around 10 kilometers from shore on Sunday. He recounted seeing the dolphins swimming gracefully in pods, bobbing up and down near the surface. Some dolphins approached as close as 50 meters from his boat, creating an unforgettable experience.

"Several of them must have weighed around 100 kilograms each," Van noted, adding that the playful creatures lingered for about 10 minutes before swimming away. "It seemed like they were migrating. Dolphin sightings here are very uncommon."

According to the management board of Nha Trang Bay, the dolphins' appearance signals a positive trend in marine environmental health and ecosystem recovery in the area.

While rare, this is not the first time dolphins have visited Khanh Hoa waters. In 2022, pods of dolphins were observed twice at Van Phong Bay, highlighting the improving conditions of local seas.

Nha Trang has recently gained international recognition, ranking 11th among the top 15 summer travel destinations globally for 2025, according to the Mastercard Economics Institute.
