Chinese diver drowns retrieving GoPro at Indonesia's popular tourist island

Zhang Xiaohan, 30, was found dead approximately 87 meters underwater by a search and rescue team last week, according to Indonesia's Antara News Agency.

Zhang had been on a guided diving tour with 12 tourists and three instructors organized by Green Nirvana Resort when the incident occurred. Police officer Iptu Taufik Hidayat said Zhang had separated from the group in an apparent attempt to retrieve the camera.

Authorities believe she may have been caught in a powerful undercurrent during the dive, as reported by the South China Morning Post.

Kakaban Island, located in East Kalimantan, is a well-known diving destination famed for its rare jellyfish lake, one of the few in the world where visitors can swim among stingless jellyfish.
