Water surged rapidly from low-lying areas and canals into neighborhoods in Ben Cat, Hiep An and Bau Bang wards, submerging some homes under more than two meters of water. The current was strong enough to sweep away vehicles and damage property.
"Water began rising around midnight and had already flooded into our house by dawn. We did not have time to move our belongings, our motorbikes and furniture were all damaged," said a resident of Ben Cat Ward of former Binh Duong Province.

At Cau Doi neighborhood in Ben Cat Ward, they rescued seven isolated residents, while another 100 people, many of them children and elderly, were evacuated near the Mai Thanh Wood Company.
Ben Cat Ward authorities said the flooding was triggered by continuous rainfall combined with overflow from the Tu Van irrigation reservoir, overwhelming drainage systems in the area.
By morning, floodwaters had largely receded, but several low-lying and riverside streets remained submerged. Local authorities are now assessing property damage, helping residents disinfect flooded boarding houses, and warning of potential renewed flooding as high tides coincide with more rain later this week.

The Southern Regional Hydro-Meteorological Station reported rainfall exceeding 110 millimeters in Ben Cat–Bau Bang overnight, while nearby provinces like Dong Nai also experienced intense rain.
The flooding coincided with high tides on the Saigon River, further slowing drainage and worsening inundation.
