Schools have uncovered forged documents bearing the signatures and seals of three top Vietnamese universities, allegedly used to facilitate student exchange programs abroad.

The University of Science under Vietnam National University in Hanoi on Tuesday issued warnings about two falsified documents involving exchange programs in Taiwan and Japan. Both featured forged signatures of university staff, including the principal.

Previously, students seeking to join exchange programs were required to submit scholarship applications, personal essays, and financial statements.

The Hanoi University of Science and Technology also reported forged documents carrying the signature of its principal. These documents referred to exchange programs in the U.S. and required students to provide financial proof of VND500 million ($19,900).

Before the Tet holiday, the National Economics University detected two documents with counterfeit seals and signatures related to international exchange programs.

All three universities confirmed that these documents were forged and urged students to verify exchange program details directly through official channels. Since the start of the academic year, the education sector has encountered multiple fraud cases, including forged documents and fake social media profiles claiming to represent the Ministry of Education and Training.
